TRAVERSE CITY - SCORE Traverse City's free workshop series continues Tuesday, Aug. 9, with "How to Get a Smart Start for Your New Business."

The workshop is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs or anyone thinking about starting a business or in the early startup stages. Presenters will offer the

real story about what it's like to start and operate a business and how to avoid common pitfalls.

They'll cover what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur, how to start a business, the pros and cons of owning a business and will give an overview of business plans, licensing and regulatory issues, finance, marketing and more.

The Aug. 9 workshop is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere, in the McGuire Community Room.
