Description

Join us for a casual Sunday afternoon as we savor wine and learn the basics of watercolors from local artist Elizabeth Manning.  This class is appropriate for all skill levels, and while we will focus on botanical, these skills can be applied to any composition.  You are encouraged to play, explore, and experiment while you learn.  Elizabeth is also bringing some of her work for display and purchase.  We encourage everyone to drop in, even if you do not attend the class.  You can find Elizabeth online at https://www.twohoots.studio/.

Sunday, June 1st, from 1 to 3.  The cost is $45 a person, and a pre-paid RSVP is required.  This includes the lesson, materials, finished product, and a glass of wine!

About Elizabeth:

Elizabeth Manning lives in Bellaire, MI where she draws inspiration for her art from the woods and natural places around her home.  She considers herself a “Michigan transplant” as she grew up in New York state and feels Michigan is the home she never knew she always wanted.  Before moving to Michigan Elizabeth worked as a teacher and before that as an actor and scenic designer in the theater.  She combines these experiences with her passion for painting to create engaging watercolors and other art classes in Northern Michigan.  The natural world is Elizabeth’s biggest inspiration, whether she paints a beloved Michigan landmark like the expansive and awe-inspiring views of Pyramid Point or an intimate portrait of native garden plants and the pollinators they attract.  A love for Michigan’s wild natural places, critters, and plants are core to her artwork.  While much of her professional work is completed in her home studio, you can often find Elizabeth with her “art backpack” out on the hiking trails of Michigan doing plein air studies.
